Cohen,
founder and managing partner of Cohen & Cohen, P.C.
was installed as the 49th president of the Trial Lawyers
Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. During
the ceremony on May 15, 2004 at the House of Representatives
Cannon Caucus Room, outgoing President L. Palmer Foret
remarked, As I pass the gavel to your new president,
Wayne Cohen, I do so with every confidence that he will
continue to build upon our successes in the face of
adversity. Waynes leadership, candid advice and
friendship have been invaluable to me this past year;
he will serve our cause well.
Cohen was installed as the 49th president and his term
will run from May 15, 2004 through May 15, 2005. Mr.
Cohen has served as the Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President,
and President Elect of the Trial Lawyers Association
of Metropolitan Washington D.C. Mr. Cohen is proud to
assume leadership the leadership role of TLA-DC from
Palmer Foret, whom he calls a man of high integrity,
broad vision, and wonderful leadership ability.
The Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington,
D.C. (TLA-DC) is the preeminent organization of lawyers
in and around Washington, D.C. who principally represent
plaintiffs in personal-injury, wrongful-death, and civil-rights
actions, and claimants in workers'-compensation and
Social Security disability administrative claims. Founded
in 1955, TLA-DC is an incorporated, nonprofit affiliate
of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Several
hundred trial lawyers, including many of the leaders
and most accomplished practitioners in the trial bar,
proudly count themselves among TLA-DC's members.
TLA-DC is dedicated to protecting consumer health and
safety, promoting the right to trial by jury, securing
enforcement of civil rights, safeguarding our civil-justice
system, and enhancing the professional development of
trial lawyers.
